The Forensic Genomics Innovation Hub aims to transform the use of DNA in forensic science with the provision of next generation sequencing technology, already well respected in the clinical genetics market, to researchers, academia and the criminal justice system.
A “proof of concept / centre of excellence” facility where projects and mutually beneficial partnerships produce foundational research that will lead to innovations and deployable solutions in the future.
Being innovative, the Forensic Genomics Innovation Hub is both creative and adaptable, with a willingness to develop new ideas and provide both winning solutions and positive outcomes. No longer will DNA be an adjunct to crime-fighting but a proactive intelligence tool.
A multitude of tests / applications will be offered by the Forensic Genomics Innovation Hub including Non-invasive Prenatal Paternity testing, specialised casework and crime stain analysis in complex cases, mitochondrial DNA testing where DNA is very old, or only minute quantities of DNA are found and forensic genealogy.
The Forensic Genomics Innovation Hub will apply all the power of modern sequencing and genomics to forensics. We will take consumer genetics and genealogy, along with the medical side, and deliver the technology so widely used and embedded in medical testing to serve the forensic market, which in the past has been previously underserved and will benefit enormously from this technology.
The Forensic Genomic Innovation Hub is essentially an entirely new approach to becoming involved in the technology of forensic genomics, capable of meeting the needs of a multitude of potential customers
