Allergy, Intolerance and Coeliac Disease Testing
A true allergy affects the immune system, an intolerance often only affects the digestive system and coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks its own tissue. Symptoms can seem very similar but rate of onset, severity and impact on daily life are very different
How Does Allergy, Intolerance and Coeliac Disease testing work?
Testing for food allergies, food intolerances, and coeliac disease involves different approaches. Food allergies are usually diagnosed through blood tests (specific IgE tests) and/or skin prick tests. Food intolerance diagnosis often relies on an elimination diet, followed by reintroduction of the suspected food to observe symptom recurrence. Tests that look at the antibody IgG may assist in identifying intolerances, but clinical evidence is limited. Some people are genetically predisposed to lactose intolerance (the sugar found in mlk). Coeliac disease is an auto-immune response and can be diagnosed through blood tests looking for antibodies (eg. anti-tissue transglutamine antibodies) that the body produces in response to gluten. This can also have an underlying genetic cause.

Genetic Lactose Intolerance Test
Primary lactose intolerance is the most common cause of lactose intolerance. This non-invasive test requires a simple cheek swab taken in your own environment, which is then posted to the laboratory for processing. It can be done on children and adults of all ages. Irrespective of whether you are experiencing symptoms or simply want a test this fast accurate test is a reliable way to identify if you have primary lactose intolerance.

Genetic Coeliac Disease Test
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects 1 in 100 people in the UK. It develops over time from a sensitivity to gluten. Our test uses Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing to confirm or rule out your potential of developing coeliac disease. This rapid, accurate test will tell you whether you carry the genes linked to coeliac disease, by analysing six (6) DNA markers for the HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 genes.
